Knud Rasmussen was a famous Greenlandic-Danish polar explorer. The origin of this design comes from seeing a photograph of Knud Rasmussen wearing a similar sweater. While the photograph of him does not show the neck or sleeve edges, bands of garter and ribbing were chosen for the design. And, while Knud's sweater shows dropped sleeves, this design incorporates raglan sleeves as an option because a raglan sweater can easily be worn under a jacket or an anorak.
