Baby Yak is the foundation of mYak. Touching the worsted-spun baby yak down offers a unique experience, as it is a precious fibre that creates a fabric, unlike anything you’ve ever knitted before. Worsted-spun baby yak down yarn is a luxury fibre that produces a distinct fabric unlike any other. With a micron count of around 17 microns, baby yak is similar to cashmere. It is warm, lustrous, lightweight, and breathable, making it perfect for all seasons.
Baby Yak’s colours feature soft, heathered earth tones, complemented by dark neutrals and a few rich, saturated shades. Most yaks are darker in colour, so lighter shades are quite rare and even more valuable. Warmer than wool and as soft as cashmere, mYak’s 100% baby yak is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a unique, ethically sourced fibre that benefits you and the environment and the communities that produce it.
mYak's Baby Yak colours are only dyed using natural bases, without any bleaching or decolouring. Each colour may vary from season to season due to the natural fibres' shades, which can cause them to be darker or lighter at different times. This variability is part of the appeal of working with natural fibres; therefore, the shade of the sample you see photographed may not always match what is in stock.
